Asbestos surveys before works and before demolition

A mandatory survey before any work starts on site

For any building with a building permit issued before 1 July 1997, an asbestos survey must be carried out before works or demolition. Contractors cannot start without this report.

Pre-works asbestos survey on a building site

Before works: protecting the people on site

Renovation, roof replacement, opening up a partition wall, partial asbestos removal: as soon as materials may be disturbed, the client (owner or project owner) must have the affected area surveyed for asbestos.

This pre-works asbestos survey covers the materials affected by the works. The report is given to the contractors, who adapt their protective equipment and working methods.

Before demolition: a survey of the whole building

Before all or part of a building is demolished, the pre-demolition survey lists every asbestos-containing material in the whole structure, including those that are not visible.

It is used to plan asbestos removal before demolition and to send the waste to the correct disposal channels.
